12 Nov How Sertraline Has Helped Me
It’s been over four months since I saw my doctor regarding my mental health. Now that I’m experiencing the results, I can safely say it has been one of the best decisions I have taken and wished I had taken the step sooner. Let me explain exactly why I decided to see my doctor…
For a very long time I have been struggling with over-thinking situations, thinking about the worst outcomes and scenarios. My brain would go into an overdrive state which would cause me to become anxious about daily life situations that did not necessary need being anxious about. This would result to becoming overwhelmed at times to the point I was having trouble focusing on work, thinking in general, concentrating on TV shows.
I’m a person who tends to become easily overwhelmed by crowds, doing too much activities in a day which then cause me to become emotionally drained, frustrated or unable to function well. This is the first time I’m sharing this information publicly, but for those who are close to me, you probably know a lot of the above by hanging around with me in person.
It was my wife, Joi who first suggested I should go to see my doctor, with me being a prideful guy *smiles*, at first I shrugged it off with the “my doctor won’t be able to help me”… I think my, then toxic masculinity mindset also had a part to play with me not wanting to see a doctor “I’m a man, I don’t need a doctor.” I also feared seeing a doctor, what if there’s something wrong with me? What would others think? Am I a weak emotional male? I went away and thought about it for some time, I then promised Joi I’d go see a doctor once I was back in the UK.
Results of Taking Sertraline
I can say that seeing the doctor really helped me in many ways, he prescribed me with sertraline, which I have been taking once a day. The results of taking my medication has helped calm my brain and settled those intense feelings I would have.
“Taking Sertraline has helped me focus better, resulting in my work improving.”
I am now able to focus on my work a lot better, resulting in my design work improving. I feel so much happier in myself and feelings. I’ve only had one depressed moment in the last four months.
Self-Care Is Important
If you’re a person who can relate to similar feelings and situations as myself, please make an appointment with your doctor. You might be anxious to go at first, but once it’s done you’ll feel a huge weight has been lifted off your body. I encourage you to take that step to overcoming those struggles you face. Trust me, it’ll be worth it.
